Didn't ACLU essentially argue against being able to prevent access to guns in cases like this? https://www.aclu.org/blog/disability-rights/gun-control-laws-should-be-fair … (regulation, initiated by Obama admin, was then struck down using the CRA)

"But gun control laws, like any law, should be fair, effective and not based on prejudice or stereotype. This rule met none of those criteria." ACLU You say you read the article but I think you ignored the part about mental health. Watch this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NGY6DqB1HX8 …

Of course the ACLU is arguing for its position. And I think they have a real concern. I do however think the, now repealed, regulation was a bit more complicated than pictured in that piece. Perfect? Hell no. Better than nothing given gridlock? Probably.

Why do some people have to lose rights under the guise of safety? No one has to lose any rights to be safe, period.

Because the current regime leads to a significant amount of harm, and the US has laxer laws than a lot of other countries in comparable situations?

Other counties that have better gun control & fewer instances of gun violence didn't have to take away anyone's rights to do so. Not all but a good majority of them

Huh? Which country has comparably lax gun control laws? And yes, mental health histories play a role in a significant number of countries? Which country has low gun violence rates and no mental health component to the laws?

Didn't say anything about countries with lax gun control. Canada & the UK have better gun control laws without banning those with mental health issues. Look this up for yourself. No citizens had to lose their rights for safety

UK has requirements that essentially have the effect of taking mental health into account. See section 10 https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/518193/Guidance_on_Firearms_Licensing_Law_April_2016_v20.pdf …
