This kind of presumes that people raising issues aren't aware of that. But for now norms around abuse of office aren't holding, so temporarily relief is sought via other, possibly more rigid, avenues. https://twitter.com/pwnallthethings/status/941168739139145728 …
Well, that'd probably fly less badly if Congress didn't squander any sort of trust... I generally agree. Pwn's tone in this is just rubbing me a bit the wrong way.

Not "less badly"--political solution is the primary way this should fly. But I agree lack of trust is a problem for Congress. Hyper-partisanship problem as well.

It's fairly evident that it's not for the next year though. IMO neither lawmakers, nor NGOs, nor journalists, nor citizens can really be faulted looking for alternative, intentionally existing!, backstops to stop the worst.

That norms and congress should have prevented current development, doesn't mean - and I don't think pwn thinks so either - other venues shouldn't be used as a backstop. Doesn't mean it's good to treat those alternatives in a rank partisan way either.

I agree with your first paragraph. Unclear abt what you mean in second.
