I've not gone to a university in the US and while I did in Germany I was working at the same time. Grain of salt... Would you say that's something primarily needed in universities or after? My anecdotal impression is that a lot of the loss in the early professional years.

Labs are often in academic institutions as well. Oh, BTW, grants could come with requirements for annual trainings, departure reporting.

I'm not saying that nothing should be done there, just that I've no first hand experience of the culture. I do have plenty first hand experience, mostly via consulting, of the culture at tech depts in companies. Culture often makes it hard continuing not being an asshole.

And anecdotally the first few "working" years seem where a lot of women drop out of STEM fields. Presumably afterwards they're senior enough to withstand more / be confronted less.
