I'd been profoundly ambivalent about whether lawyers w/ consciences should work for this admin. Last four days have pushed me off the fence.

I find serving in other departments (some fairly independent), a lot more defensible than working in the political WH (rather than NSC etc).

My thinking was that Americans have right to competent legal representation - otherwise system falls apart. No similar right to "good press"

Agreed on that. Although I think prominent lawyers so far have more been crisis managers than doing actual defense. So not clearly seprable
