If I'm not mistaken the Senate can require Gen H R McMaster to testify as he is a serving general. Seems like a good time to do that.
Isn't that going to be largely thwarted by executive privilege? If McMaster doesn't want to say something for other reasons, that is?

As far as I know, usually executive privilege applies but as a serving three star he is required to appear.
