Like, I am super in favor of negotiating a settlement with the Taliban. (And even more in favor of the elected govt of Afg doing so.) But we’re a long way from popping the cork at Camp David. It’s not a fucking country club invitation.

I am a child of the 90s. Which means I remember Yasir Arafat in the Rose Garden, the Dayton Accords, and the Good Friday Agreement. But my entire adult life has been defined by 9/11.

What I don't get is why senior Taliban leadership would even trust DT, of all people, to let them enter and leave for negotations?
