Basically the idea here is that if you're an unauthorized immigrant, you have zero human rights. Even murderers can't be indefinitely detained without trial or sentencing. The result of this case is, to me, clearly absurd. But I don't think it really speaks to the rights / constitutional questions? It's absurd/sad/crazy that congress legislated rules like this, but the case wasn't *really* about this.

I never quite know what to know about cases where the internal reasoning is somewhat understandable, but the outcome is some crazy shit. E.g. because constitutional questions aren't presented. Both Jennings and Preap have deeply unjust results :(
