None of the Democrats on the committee asked about Ed Whelan, and nobody got into whether the July 1 calendar entry could have been the gathering Dr. Ford described.https://twitter.com/MattGlassman312/status/1045689551010902017 …

Ditto. I'm not sure any other strategy would have produced a different result, thus far, but harping on process---as opposed to a substantive question such as Kavanaugh's teenage drinking / memory---seemed like a possible wrong turn to me. https://twitter.com/jbarro/status/1045688874293432323 …

It probably didn't matter either way, but the whole thing didn't seem very strategic.

@jdawsey1 and others made point about how journalists interview vs senators, and it was striking how Democrats didn’t seem to adjust their questions to avoid duplicates and maximize new information — a basic lesson for cub reporters covering a press conference.

Something I constantly bemoan watching hearings on my beat, where few lawmakers understand the basics and they ask the same simple questions over and over again.

Think that's the case for a lot of beats, but most people don't watch hearings, and especially not ones outside of their beat. It's one thing to posture a lot in charged hearings, but there got to be a better approach than this. It's almost as if they're not even prepped.
