Google will still say it's up-to-date even when there's an update available anyway since they like doing staged rollouts.

2 weeks after a security update before EOL if you're unlucky it may simply report that it's up-to-date even when it's not.
-
Nexus 5 security support ended months ago, the device should notify the user about it
-
We know, just pointing out that even when there is a security update, that screen is not an accurate source of information.
-
Core purpose of that screen == misleading people. Even manual check for updates doesn't bypass staged rollouts. Just lies.
-
If they cared about users, Play Services could display a persistent notification after 2-3 months behind security patches.
