Interesting, but on many platforms won't the efuses be inaccessible to userspace? I mean, they won't be writable that's for sure, and if they were a malicious userspace could simply brick the device

Up to you to decide permission for the character device that allows fusing. Typically this is only needed on provisioning and you can allow just read access on production.

Yeah exactly. Im not intimately familiar with the supported iMX platform, but have looked at others closely. On those the efuses weren't writable from userspace, not we're they exposed via a chardev, and if they were, that'd be a serious problem!
