That will touch a wave of "not suitable for advertising" censorship that is beleaguering YouTube.

I think as Facebook opens the program to more creators, it'll have a brief wild west period before the hammer comes down.

As far as I've seen industry-side, they're preselecting their creators. They really don't want to deal with a wild west, while still putting up the front that users can still create content (Facebook pages).

I'm generally concerned about sites like Facebook and
@TeamYouTube trying to extinguish what little control starting/intermediate creators have in becoming successful.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
Increasing their power as gatekeepers is definitely a concern. However, I think YouTube and Facebook directly competing against each other for the online video market is a net positive for creators. Better two gatekeepers than one.

Guess we'll see which one audiences & creators favour
Genuinely curious where we'll be in 10 years.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
From what I've seen, different kinds of content succeed on YouTube and FB. I had rantier videos that flopped on YouTube hit the millions on Facebook, but no direct upload of Tales From the Internet to Facebook has ever done well.

So more likely we'll see an audience split?

Possibly. But there's also the chance that the "shows" format changes how people use Facebook altogether.

I think I'll be paying attention to the "Watch" tab more often. I never use it; looks like things might change.
