Yesterday in Irpin, I saw first-hand the brutality of Putin’s war.
It reinforced two things I believe strongly: Ukraine must win this war and we must never allow it to happen again.
We must bring Taiwan fully into the now.
To date, Taiwan has around 100 cases of #COVID2019 despite its proximity to China.
#TaiwanCanHelp the global response. China must stop playing geopolitics with global health.

New poll shows Europeans are overwhelming in favour of Ukraine's EU membership.
Today I was at the Lachin corridor that links Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia.
It is currently blocked by Azerbaijanis, leaving 120,000 residents without access to essential goods.
The EU must push Azerbaijan to lift the blockade. If not, we risk a humanitarian catastrophe.
Really good to catch up with and discuss the fight for democracy in Uganda.

Our work to promote freedom, democracy and human rights around the world continues.
Germany is asking for European and NATO solidarity in response to despicable poisoning. They will get it, but an honest answer from Putin is unlikely.
Time has come for Germany to halt Nord Stream 2 construction, before it’s too late.
It was an honour to meet President yesterday in Kyiv.
We discussed the international working group I am co-chairing with on security guarantees and what more the democratic world must to support Ukraine.
Sława Ukrajini!
The indiscriminate Russian attacks on Kyiv and across Ukraine are horrific.
Ukraine needs the latest missile and air defence systems NOW.
We must not make the same mistakes with Xi Jinping that we did with Putin.
We should make clear NOW that any move against Taiwan would entail a unified and determined response from the democratic world.
That is my message from Taipei today 🇹🇼

Seven Covid-19 deaths without harsh lockdowns. We have much to learn from them.
It's indefensible that China plays geopolitics with our health.
Retweet if you agree!
In recent days Gazprom has confirmed it is not a gas company but a platform for Russian coercion. How much more evidence do German politicians need to cancel Nord Stream 2?
Russia’s aggression in the Sea of #Azov must stop immediately: after ramming a Ukrainian ship, they have now opened fire.
Moscow’s illegal actions must be met with a robust international response.
Putin responds only to power.
Immense bravery.
My full support to all those protesting in Georgia against attempts to restrict media freedom and civil society.
We must stand with all those fighting for a future based on freedom and democracy.

Democracy will prevail over the mob, but the damage Trump is doing to American democracy plays straight into Moscow and Beijing’s playbook.
The world cannot forget about Afghanistan.
Western governments must step up support for those pushing back against the Taliban’s brutal and oppressive rule.
This is an important article on the fight by for a different future for Afghanistan.
At the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius, Ukraine must be given a clear pathway to membership and security guarantees until it gets there.

July's NATO summit is the most important in recent history.
It is appropriate Lithuania is hosting, as they have led the way in standing up to dictators.

I'm visiting #Ukraine today and addressing supporters of my friend President with one message: Ukraine should continue the reforms. They are not easy, but every time I visit Ukraine, I leave confident that it has a bright future, if it stays the course.
Armenia is a country at a crossroads, both geographically and politically.
Since 2018, its democracy has made important strides forward. The EU and democratic world must do more to support this development.

We cannot just leave the brave people of Ukraine to their fate. Their fight is our fight. Slava Ukraini!
It is official. Sweden and Finland joins #NATO. The alliance will get two new and highly capable members. Putin may want to see NATO resigned to history but his actions in Ukraine has achieved the opposite. NATO has emerged larger, stronger and more united
To ensure Ukraine wins the war and secures a sustainable peace, we need a long-term vision for Ukraine’s security.
This must be based on two things: robust security guarantees and NATO membership.

Today, the autocrat’s alliance reunites in Moscow.
Xi Jinping presents it is a peace mission but with dictators you should look at actions not words.

New poll released today shows Ukrainians have the most positive view of EU of anyone in the world.
We must not let them down.
Let's all wish Ukraine a Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇦
My message on the importance of continued transatlantic support.
Early this morning, Russia launched a full-scale invasion into Ukraine. Putin’s aim is clear, the end of Ukraine as an independent and democratic state. This is the darkest moment for Europe since WWII.
We must be prepared for Putin to attack Ukraine. We learned in 2014 that he is capable of anything.
But history has shown that appeasement does not lead to peace.
The West has a strong hand and we must show Putin we are willing to call his bluff. No more Munich, no more Yalta.
By sending fighter jets, central and eastern European leaders are again leading the democratic world in support of Ukraine.
More should follow.
The best way to end this war quickly is give Ukraine all it needs to defeat Russia on the battlefield.
Slava Ukraini!
World should not be intimidated by 🇨🇳’s sabre rattling over ’s visit. Europeans must stand with Taiwan and the US. I look forward to my own visit to a free and democratic Taiwan.
Disturbing escalation by Russia-backed rebels in Donbas.
Attacking multiple positions and using weapons banned by the Minsk agreement
This aggression must be condemned by US and EU, and Putin must understand that only path to better West/Russia relations runs through #Ukraine
#Belarus sanctions still not agreed by EU Foreign Ministers. Cyprus refuses, trying to leverage Belarus to make a point about 🇹🇷
The will of governments representing 445 million Europeans overridden by a government representing 1 million
Frustrating.
The JIT is clear: #MH17 and 298 innocent people on board were murdered by a Russian missile. Not to mention the 10,000+ people killed in the Donbas war fomented by Moscow. The West must not consider normalising relations until Russia changes its behaviour.
18 years ago today, 10 new countries joined the European Union.
It was a historic day for Europe and a victory for democracy and liberty.
I look forward to the day that Ukraine joins them.
Cheers to freedom and democracy!
It is great to be back in Taiwan 🇹🇼.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Yesterday, Denmark and the Netherlands made a historic decision to donate up to 61 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. And today spoke in Copenhagen to thank the people of Denmark for their support. I hope other Allied nations will follow suit. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦🇩🇰
Nord Stream 2 is a trap that Germany is walking into, with serious consequences for its European neighbours. My interview for
To stop Putin’s war, Europe must end all import of Russian oil and gas immediately.
I welcome the agreement on Swedish NATO accession.
This is a historic moment for security in Northern Europe.
It again shows the strategic disaster of Putin’s war. He wanted weakened. Instead, it is stronger, more unified, and larger than ever.
Nobody is above the law and justice must be done. But this week's charges against former Ukrainian President have a worrying tinge of the selective justice and political retribution that belong to #Ukraine's past, not its future.
Putin plays a bad hand well — but his tactics only work if we fold.
Time for to call his bluff.
We cannot give Putin the whip hand over European security, nor a de facto veto on Ukraine & Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic ambitions.
My oped
President Macron’s re-election is good news for France, Europe, and the world.
Only the Kremlin would have been celebrating a Le Pen victory.
Europe must now ban all import of Russian oil and gas. If we are united, we can force Putin to end his barbaric war.
Tomorrow, 🇺🇦 #Ukraine 🇺🇦 celebrates its Independence Day, marking 27 years as an independent state.
My thoughts will be with Ukraine’s services personnel, brave men and women who continue to make sacrifices in the cause of freedom.
Slava Ukrajini! facebook.com/6984867487/pos
Happy 45th birthday .
Your leadership in these dark moments continues to be an inspiration.
Let us celebrate next year in a free Ukraine.
Slava Ukraini!
Nord Stream 2 is the flagship project in Russia’s campaign to keep Europe dependant on its gas, to consolidate its influence in the heart of the EU, and to deprive Ukraine of gas transit fees that it needs to make the European transformation that Germany rightly encourages.
Quote
The Biden administration has made clear the Nord Stream 2 is a bad deal. We continue to monitor activity and warn any entity involved in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline will risk sanctions. We are committed to complying with the Congressional legislation in this regard.
Tomorrow is a big day for #Ukraine. Congratulations on your 25th anniversary of Independence. Be proud, stay united
Excellent news that the EU has finalised its '#MagnitskyAct'.
The measures enable it to introduce more targeted sanctions against individuals involved in human rights abuses.
Congratulations to for his long unyielding campaign to make these sanctions a reality.
Great to be back in Vilnius with a true defender of freedom !
Lithuania is leading the democratic world in its support for Ukraine and in standing up to autocrats everywhere.
More countries should follow their lead!
Congrats Lithuania for developing relations w/ Taiwan. & I firmly believe democracies need to cooperate more, including w/ TW. No democracy should be bullied by authoritarians to change their foreign policy. Democracies must stand together in support of each other.

They want their leaders to continue supplying weapons to help Ukrainians defend themselves.
There is only one outcome to this war - all Russian troops leave Ukrainian soil.
My interview with earlier -
President Trump’s postponement of his visit to Denmark is a setback for our countries’ diplomatic relations, but it may be for the best. The Arctic’s security & environmental challenges are too important to be considered alongside hopeless discussions like the sale of Greenland.
It was my privilege to meet #HongKong democracy activist today shortly after he announced he will go into exile.

Across four major European countries, people back strong economic sanctions against Russia.
Europe is failing Ukraine.
In July, none of the six biggest European countries provided any new military commitments. This must change.
Ukrainians are fighting for all of us, we must give them all they need to win this war.
A historic day for Europe.
Good for Sweden, Finland, the EU, and NATO.
Bad for Vladimir Putin.
Russia is an expert at unresolved conflicts. That must not happen in this war.
We must ensure that Ukraine prevails.
To do that, Europe must step up deliveries of heavy weapons and agree an immediate embargo of Russian oil and gas.
Russia continues to aggress its neighbours, meddle in European societies, and commit major human rights abuses against its own people. Returning its Council of Europe voting rights will only embolden this malign behaviour. A mistake from .
I have written to FM Landsbergis about my full support for Lithuania🇱🇹 developing relations w/ democratic Taiwan🇹🇼 and opening The Taiwanese Representative Office in Lithuania. Democracies must indeed work closer w/ each other; all EU member states must stand behind Lithuania.

Once again Russia has sided with Assad in rejection of all norms of the rules-based order. The US and allies must send a strong signal to Assad, Putin and all other tyrants/autocrats. Action is always a tough decision, but we’ve seen the cost of inaction.
Crimea is Ukraine.
That statement is as true today as it was five years ago. The West stands united in raising the costs to Russia for its continued aggression. #CrimeaisUkraine
Thanks to #Ukraine military who took care of us, especially our helicopter pilot who took impressive precautions vs possible rocket threat.
Very important statement from the US Secretary of State, that Russia’s annexation of Crimea will not be recognised. Echoes of the 1940 Welles declaration re the Baltics. NATO allies should join this declaration. ⬇️
Vladimir Putin’s speech and declaration of annexation of Ukrainian territory does not change reality on the ground.
Ukraine is winning on the battlefield. We must continue to give them what they need to finish the job.
If Assad has launched a chemical attack against his own people, the west must enforce its 'red line' & Assad must finally pay a price.
