The truth is that I don't like politics. At all. I hate it; I hate the dishonesty, the cruelty, the division, the campaigning and the eternal war. But it is just so important. That's it; that's the only reason why I barely talk and think about anytjing dlse in my spare time.

However, I need to take a break (mostly to focus on studying), and with the midterms over and the MIR just three months away, I think it has to be now before I get sucked back into the newscycle. So I wish you all a happy new year beforehand and I'll see you in february!

I like thinking about medicine, biology, physics, and history, enjoying music, literature, and architecture, and just being a human experiencing humour, sex, food, and sleep. But all this is worth naught if we return to the historical human norm of tyranny and war.

You know what I actually like? Medicine. It doesn't really show because I already spend like 12 hours a day thinking about it and then it's like being offered more food on December 25 after being stuffed by my aunt: I can't believe it but I don't want anymore!

It's like watching a dozen teenagers, a few violent criminals and a lot of monkeys fighting for control of a Golem that could wipe out all our savings or poison everyone. It's grotesque, but I can't stop watching and cheering. I have to - it would be too irresponsible not to!

NEW: the key narratives from the midterms in 1/ The urban-rural divide in American politics is becoming wider and wider. Dems swept diverse cities, Republicans limited their losses with a rural "red wall", but the key battles were in the suburbs.

Could ONE reporter ONE time say to Trump when he complains the press is negative and hostile (as he's doing right now), "Sir, its because you LIE and we have to report that. Don't lie and we won't be so "negative". ONCE please?

Weird that there’s no news on the caravan that was supposedly coming for our blood, our souls and our second houses in Minnesota a mere 24 hours ago.

Democracy gained three big things yesterday: an opposition with a policy voice, an opposition with a veto on major policy matters, and an opposition with the power to conduct investigations. That's big. Very big. And important. Very important.

If Ds hadn't gotten so understandably pumped up for Gillum/Abrams/Beto and beating McConnell/Nunes/King they'd be pretty ecstatic about taking out Kobach/Walker/Rohrbacher/Heller and getting to investigate Trump.

What strikes me this morning is how much had to happen for Democrats to win a relatively modest House majority. —historically unpopular president —extraordinary Democratic midterm turnout —huge 4th quarter influx of cash from a few big donors to match the surge in small donors.
