Maybe the Sultan wanted to avoid getting any of the blood of the 100,000+ Yemenis MbZ and MbS have together slaughtered over the past 5 years on his own hands, which have remained clean of that particular crime (as were those of his predecessor, Sultan Qaboos bin Sa'eed)

A couple ppl have informed me that this is an Omani cultural thing, where they don't shake your hand until they've completed walking you out or something; I'm going to continue to choose to believe that he just hates MbZ, but if you want to know the real story it's in the replies

Perhaps but I prefer to believe the alternative explanation, for my own satisfaction :P (Also I realize there's a good chance this video is old, and predates his becoming Sultan of Oman)

It’s actually an Arab tradition, where hand shaking only happens after the guest is accompanied to the door and beyond. Shaking his hand earlier would have meant “it’s ok we can part ways here”
