The argument rests on whether or not Jesus was citing the elohim of Psalm 82 or the elders of Israel in the Torah. If the former, as Heiser argues, then Christ is basically saying, "The Gods who the Word of God came can be called Gods. Yet I cannot be called the Son of God?"

With Jesus concluding, "I and the Father are One" he's affirming divine parentage. He's basically saying HE was there at the Divine Council too. He's divine as much as the other Elohim at the council. Even moreso since he's THE Son.

Being One with God only shows that He was a Universal Man, to translate that to other traditions, to have completed the greater Mysteries, or to have completed the path of Yoga

The 70 elders of exodus are themselves set up as a symbol of the divine council of gods. 70, also, representing all the worlds nations listed in genesis; Jacob’s 70 sons being a microcosm of all humanity etc.
