Let’s be clear. It is possible to hire 1,000 or 10,000 or 100,000 human beings to approve every ad. You don’t have to use robots to decide what speech buffets our democracy. But that would slow Facebook down. It would curb user growth and sales. And that’s what Facebook refuses.

This is why the nature of our society cannot be decided by billionaires. What is good for them and what is good for most of us are different.

I killed my FB account on 11.8.16 and have never looked back. One of the best decisions I ever made. You can’t expect anything good to come of a company that began as a tool for a socially inept college guy to get laid.

Really beginning to feel uncomfortable using Facebook - should we stop?
-
Yes. Way back, years before all the recent scandals, I noticed 2 members of the
#Facebook board were former#NSA employees. Friends would say, 'What's the NSA?' I'd reply: 'Its annual budget makes the#CIA look like an exercise in parsimony.' Now we know, we all know. Or should.pic.twitter.com/UfNBcoq070

his stock price is down and going nowhere fast.... you gotta stay focused for the the long haul- everybody call him out for his bullshit every corner he turns, and soon he’ll be fighting for his life... he won’t be the first mogul to fall from grace.

You should try to become rather aquatinted with this document. It details painstakingly, just how walled gardens will go up within FB. It’s not just about money, it’s about control.https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/xwk9zd/how-facebook-content-moderation-works …

The argument that, if Zuck would just spend the money, misses a huge point, that FB would be a good and ethical company if it did. In reality they would have 100k workers following the lead of teams the Atlantic Counsel. This is more about ethics and control than it is $.

Deleted my FB account in 2012 when they started bending over backwards for background checks for employers, and when they made a creeper tier ToS initially.
