used to think term limits was a bad idea but now it seems the good outweighs the bad.

Yes. I think it’s something to bring back into discussion, at a minimum.

Mixed feelings. The last time that happened, America got the Tea Party. Fresh ideas and perspectives are needed in DC (by politicians *and* media), but there’s also great value in the institutional knowledge of government and governance.
-
That value isn’t working.
-
I’d agree that as currently led by the GOP, it’s definitely not. My point is that one needs some people with institutional knowledge and history.

Actually, this is a moment for EFFECTIVE democratic leadership in Congress - young & fresh is great, but not in & of itself. Pelosi should commit to mentoring the next generation. Dems need to win power, not just the argument.

Agree!

You’re falling right in line w/GOP here. What if they demonize
@NancyPelosi because she’s effective? (And maybe a little misogyny) She helped get ACA through the house and raises millions. Maybe it’s time for her to go, but don’t just be lockstep w/Trumpeters on this.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Sorry Anand. We need her. The Rs demonize her because she’s an effective woman. She’s only 2 yrs older than McConnell. Why doesn’t he step aside?

I hope she does, but the real problem I see is Schumer.

We NEED
@NancyPelosi as Speaker. Her ability to get things done is one of the Dems most valuable assets. When she's ready to retire they can elect a new leader. In the meantime everybody just stfu. Pushing for her to go is exactly what the GOP wants. Why? She's scarily effective.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

She said she wants to bring back Paygo, which would be political and policy suicide for Dems

See your point but she was very good at that job, IMO, and that’s what’s needed most. Not sure who could step in at that level (would like to know your POV). On the other hand, Schumer can’t be replaced soon enough.

All she is asking for is that delicious moment the gavel is handed to her and she gets to lord over the Orange Beast being booed at the State of the Union. It's not a big ask and she deserves it.

What an absurd situation for Democratic leadership to be in.

Because her obvious replacement got primaried out of a job by AOC. We also have a Paul-Ryan-like problem, in that there are few people other than her than can unique all of the disparate factions of the party.

Personally, i don't believe Pelosi on this, but it actually IS the right thing to do...IF she bypasses the old guard and brings in a younger..FRESH leader and mentors them with the knowledge and skill she has. Well, ok, never gonna happen that way i know.

Two terms should be enough for Congress. They seem to dig in and get too comfortable.

1. Can we please table the internecine warfare for 3 weeks? 2. I think all of us who criticize Pelosi have to ask ourselves how much we have been influenced by the RW propaganda machine. Just as with Hillary, they will demonize all Dem women leaders. We aren’t immune to it.
