.@dearabby, Your column’s namesake, Abby, comes from Avigail, which is Hebrew, a language that sprouted far from America. The current columnist, Jeanne Phillips, bears a French name. So what exactly makes your names American and mine foreign? Sincerely, Anand Giridharadashttps://twitter.com/SikhProf/status/1052259740712140801 …

Dear Twitter, A famous advice columnist is telling people to whitewash their kid's names if they want to be accepted. How should I tell her that's wrong and racist? Simran Jeet Singh pic.twitter.com/URNbMT5LZ7

Confused by this. A cursory Google suggests this advice columnist died in 2013.

Agreed, have I had to remind people how to spell / pronounce my name? Almost every day- but I’m 💯 % glad my parents didn’t name me Alvin or Marvin, or Jaxxon or some stupid Anglo sounding name just to “fit in” easier

My name, Diana Rohini LaVigne, must really mess with @dearabby’s notion of a ‘good name’ because I have an old Indo-European root first name+ Classic Indian second name + French last name that everyone thinks is Jewish when hearing it (Levine). I’m very happy with my name!pic.twitter.com/z9PCK2NmtK

Wow, that's terrible advice. As a Danny-pronounced-like-DAHnee, I have to correct almost everyone. But I thank my parents for it now - they made me proud of my heritage and also created a rebellious and independent PITA.

From the dictionary, "foreign: strange or unfamiliar" Furthermore, What do you think would become of a kid with the last name Lund, in India? What do you think would become of an Indian kid named Dikshit, in the US?
