This is advertising a tool that lets people find more things in their neighborhoods, like local businesses they can spend money at. You are intentionally misrepresenting the meaning of the ad to support a completely different narrative.

People can find places to spend their $ at by walking through & around their neighborhoods, too. Except you'll never catch gentrifiers in the "hood" section supporting the local empanada or beauty supply spot.
-
You know people of all incomes and backgrounds use the internet. Not everyone can walk long distances (old or disabled). Outrage over nothing. Go to a senior center you’ll find a dozen low income seniors with android phones.
-
Yes & no. Access to the internet isn't universal and not in every home (ironically for the same reasons you outline above). Maybe Google ought to market to senior citizens in the homes you reference instead.

I remember when some tech company put adds on BART calling the West Oakland stop the “eastern frontier of Silicon Valley.”
-
I got into a little online thing with them about that and they just couldn't understand why it sucked
-
Classic. It really sucks what those people are doing to the bay.

Thank you for pointing this out because as a second-generation resident this has been extremely rage-inducing.

People new to Brooklyn call us oldsters “the leftovers.” I blame Lena Dunham.

The ad agency that pitched and created this campaign is NY-based. They are native New Yorkers.
@Anomaly -
"Native" is likely not an apt word in this context. Dollars to donuts they are 20-30-somethings who moved here from far away not very long ago. And they are addressing the others in their cohort, not us locals.
-
Maybe New York should build a wall.

This makes my blood boil. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and these people (invasive gentrification—non-native New Yorkers!) have ruined it. Absolutely ruined it. Brooklyn has lost its charm and diversity and warmth.

You don't know Brooklyn (anymore).
