This is the greatest use of “in lieu of” in usage history. Generosity masquerading as justice.https://twitter.com/SInow/status/1042484287038283776 …

By him donating millions is supposed to make everything alright? Asking for the millions of women who've been abused & taken advantage of??..

gen·er·ous showing a readiness to give more of something, as money or time, than is strictly necessary or expected. Obviously NOT generosity and clearly not justice. When a billionaire spends 10 million (and gets a donation) to avoid punishment, how is there any consequence?

Isn't the idea that it's better to pay the money to an organization who will use it to correct the kinds of problems that were going on, than to just pay a fine that would go into the NBA's general fund?

Here's what. Good parents raise boys. Men know why they feel & act entitled, when in their development it happens. Only their own acknowledgement, transparency, willingness, ALONG WITH facing real consequences will bring change. #ZeroTolerance.

Did you read the article? The max he could have been fined is $2.5M. That's why they he's getting some credit for a donation that is 4X the max he could have been fined.
