Also, I love belonging to a country where a brown guy can interview a brown guy on television about his criticisms of the richest, most powerful people in the society, on a show hosted by a woman who replaced, um, Charlie Rose.

If my firm has a trillion dollar marketcapitalization, pays almost no taxes, and the CEO pledges $2B in philanthropic support why is their applause.? Citizens are left to fill in the shortfall of a regressive tax structure.

I agree partly, but I don't see this as a progression. It's a return to Victorian values, like we saw in Dickens, with rich folk determining who to aid & who belongs to the "undeserving poor." Which is why, for 50 yrs, drugs used by PoC have been penalized more than white drugs.
