A couple notes.
1. Between the first draft of writing this for @TIME and the final, a billionaire literally bought the magazine I was writing for. #SignOfTheTimes
2. People are like: Where are your solutions, Giridharadas? You want solutions? I got your solutions right here.

He didn't make a mistake. He knew exactly what he was doing. He killed a tax he should be paying on his company and instead now gets a tax write off for his "charity". I call BULLSH*T - just another way for him to amass more wealth. Evil!

Selective charity, instead of changing the system, makes a few people feel good but doesn’t reach enough people, reliably enough. Like crowdfunding for healthcare costs or education.

Better wages & healthcare for all the employees that made you a billionaire, please, Jeff! Start with your obligation as a CEO and then help all the others with your billions. Thanks.

We get offer health care from Day 1 and each year we can renew it. We do have an amazing health care benefit package. My daughter just got hip surgery, and we only have to pay a small percentage of it because of how amazing the coverage is.

It’s not about helping the best way he can..it’s about making it look like he’s doing the best that he can..misguided no..too smart for that..he didn’t pass those tests by missing the point here or there..it’s intentional to do just enough..testing humanity and their will

Bezos is such a hypocrite! His employees rely on welfare and most are considered temps so they don’t qualify for healthcare! He wants to better the world, he should start in his own backyard with the people who helped make him a billionaire! Otherwise, he looks like a fool!

“Ways he can give better” is such a crazy line lol I’m sure there is but reading that out loud feels odd/weird.

He has said that he doesn’t know what he’s going to do yet. I think what he’s done so far is symbolic more than anything. I also think he has big plans with healthcare and industrial production.
