Maybe we've reached peak capitalism

1. Little evidence of this. In 2014, Cuomo and his primary challenger, Zephyr Teachout, got just over 500K votes combined. Tonight, Cynthia Nixon got that on her own and still lost. Part of this is voter enthusiasm across dem spectrum, but it's also the size of his war chest.

Look beyond local races maybe?

see my response on Bloomberg vs Trump. There is no evidence we have reached peak capitalism. See also: "Since the modern merger era began in the 80s, corporate profits have surged, while family incomes have stagnated and income inequality has increased."https://nyti.ms/2JXJxs9

Well I think that kind of proves my point, if anything. Wealth inequality greater than at any time since Gilded Age, maybe worse. The 1% controls the fed govt like never before - with presidents from either party. Corporations pay almost no taxes, get plenty of govt welfare
-
right, my point is: it's getting worse. Not at peak yet.
-
Don't disagree it's getting worse; just uncertain if we are past point of no return before we're living in something new altogether - neo-feudalism?
-
for sure. (I think i was confused about meaning of 'peak capitalism'. we're in agreement on everything here).

I cried the day he got elected mayor. He sold NYC to developers and ran the city on higher real estate taxes, rather than taxing rich investors, and by exempting new development. That continues to this day.

Like anyone else, there are good billionaires and bad billionaires. While not perfect, Bloomberg did a good job as Mayor of New York and repaired a lot of the damaged left behind by Rudy G.
