U.S. tech magnates’ interest in space as wages stagnate, inequality yawns and democracy trembles here on earth reminds me of elite Indians’ worry for stray dogs. As if the hurting people in front of you so overwhelm you that you must displace them in your mind with a proxy cause.

I’m not sure it more existential than (rich white) boys and their toys. LeBron funded a school, not a spaceship fantasy.

Space exploration is an investment in the future of mankind, and such have always paid off, in one way or another.

NASA should be doing it. What good is space exploration when the workers these tech moguls exploit can’t even afford to live?

You may be right with respect to Blue Origin, but not SpaceX. SpaceX is doing what NASA doesn't want to do/or would hire Russians to do at a bargain, while creating jobs for Americans.

SpaceX is a legit business that has billion of dollars in contracts. Blue Origin is just a copycat that wants to be like SpaceX while their CEO exploits the workers from left to right. Jeff Bezos can pay his workers fairly and then he can do whatever the hell he wants with his $

Celebrities often raise money for pets displaced by natural disasters while people in those areas are still in danger or in need of basic necessities too

As one who has visited India several times - and other countries with similar issues (incl. parts of the US) - I will say that the heart has room for both humans and stray dogs. It’s not a zero sum game. #Compassion

Sorry, can’t ever agree that exploring space is a bad idea.

Would you agree that @NASA is best suited for it? We should tax and regulate these tech monopolies and raise NASA budget instead of giving subsidies to the tech companies that exploit their workers so they can stamp their name on a fucking rocket.

NASA can’t find their ass with both hands. Look at the history of @JamesWebbScope , not to mention the complete dereliction of duty following the shuttle retirement. Imagine hiring Russians to do your manned space mission!
