When doing good by doing well is harder than you thought because the world is rigged to make you do well way faster than you can do good.https://twitter.com/petervanham/status/1036382610015105024 …

One of the reasons the world’s richest people are unable to spend on charity what they promised they would, is that we’ve created an economic system that overwhelmingly favors those who are ultra wealthy to begin with. Thoughts, ⁦@AnandWrites⁩? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-08-30/world-s-richest-simply-can-t-give-away-their-money-fast-enough …

One of my greatest and least plausible hopes for @winnerstakeall is that no one ever uses “doing good by doing well” unironically again.

I can get behind your rejection of sanctimonious goo-dooder-ing as virtue signaling. But in most cases, people have done good by doing well, whether they intend it or no. Such is the product of voluntary exchange.

Reality: doing well, and later promising to do good eventually, or my staff will do good after I die.
