This is such a widespread genre of cis women posts, the whole "I did [behavior] as a child and COULD'VE labeled myself as trans, but I have BRAVELY decided to be cis". Ok? Good for you? Thanks for letting us know?

Bending over backwards to be fair, I will note that the author then encountered biphobia + some weird gender policing from someone who apparently insisted that everyone needs to identity as politically trans for...solidarity?? but that's such a niche argument I've never seen it.

So just to be clear: I do not think cis people need to identity as trans out of political solidarity. I have never encountered that idea and feel confident saying that many trans people would be pretty horrified by the thought. We understand that your gender is your gender.

In return and for the love of god, please stop writing these lavish childhood fanfics about how you narrowly avoiding identifying as trans, as though that would be the worst thing ever and something modern kids need to be protected from.

And your decision to not label yourself as trans now does not make you brave or traditional or edgy or clever or ANYTHING except, you know, not trans. Which is fine.

Elevating this because I'm a little
