It's important for conversations about what Obama could/couldn't do with a Dem Senate. It's important for conversations about how Dems are "the same" as Republicans because some specific Dems somewhere are screwing folks over. It's important for a lot of reasons.

The "Dem" umbrella right now is so wide that it encompasses a huge spectrum. We really need to basically resign the Republican party to the dustbin, and split the Dem party into one or more offshoots. (With ranked choice voting.)

This thing where Twitter finds the Worst Dem, holds them up as an example of all Dems, and then is like "oooh, tell me again how important it is to VOTE" is tiring and I am old.

Yeah, pelosi and AOC do *not* vote the same way. Progressives do not vote the same as moderates.
-
Republicans didn't used to be monolithic, but now the Rs will primary those who don't vote in lockstep.

Basically we need a more parliamentary system with several parties that form coalitions in order to govern.

Coalitions are not the answer.

100%. I wish more people could get invested in primaries and their local dem party politics. It's so painful when you see a safe blue-state get a bunch of national dem party funding to primary out progressive candidates.

And just that.... like in general "Democrats" or "The Democratic Party" isn't a cohesive concept. Right now Biden is "the Leader" because he's the Presidential nominee, but it's also made up of many different parts, and usually people have objections with specific subsets
-
Not the whole thing, which is important, because if you object to one aspect of the Party, there's a solid chance there's some faction WITHIN the party that is your natural ally in combating that aspect, but if you just see that as "The Democratic Party" you won't find that ally.
