And then when school is eventually cancelled, all the cases blaming parents for the fact that their kids don’t have enough food, and all the “leave alone” cases for folks who have to go to work or get fired.

Service providers are already suspending groups and classes, which is the right move, but which will, through no fault of theirs, delay parents’ “progress” in completing the oh-so-essential “service plans” they have to complete to have any hope of getting their kids home.

And don’t get me started on visits. Instead of providing hand sanitizer and moving supervised visits—that often could safely be unsupervised anyway!—outside to a playground from overcrowded agency visit rooms, visits will be cancelled or transferred to skype. And then ...

... when the crisis is over and visits should go back to normal, ACS and the agencies will argue that since it’s been so long since the kids have seen their parents in person, we need to “start slow” and work back up to the type or frequency of visits the family had before.
