We just bought a small business in August. Husband works in a federal prison. This shutdown has the potential to compromise not only our household, but my shop, too. Quarterly taxes are due on the 20th. Meanwhile trying to balance personal bills. This is ludicrous.

  3. I think many people tend to forget the every day impact of our federal government workers and their professionalism...safe air travel is just one example.

Re Alexandria Ocasio Cortez: I wonder if JFK faced the same level of skepticism and disdain about his relative youth when he entered Congress back in 1947. He was 30, one year older than she is.

The reason she'll never work outside rightwing la-la land is because she is a bald faced liar. No one wants her as the face of their company/organization

Anyway reminder that federal workers are, largely, not the distant elites of DC. They live all over. They protect, investigate, monitor, aid, build, clean, prevent, invent, and heal. They’re Americans. Almost a million of them expected a paycheck and can’t get another.

This is amazing NVG technology. After having to do remedial night land navigation at TBS way back when, I can totally apprecIte this. So cool.

"There will not be another government shutdown. You can count on that. Shutting down the government, in my view, is not conservative policy. I don’t think a two-week paid vacation for federal employees is conservative policy.” -- Mitch McConnell, Oct 2013

Be thankful for what you have. You have no idea how many people would love to have what you've got.

I’m grateful you are serving in this capacity too - we finally have someone in charge who will put our country’s national security interest above that of his political party...and who has the courage to actually perform his constitutional responsibility.

Humbled daily by the outpouring of support here. The day after Christmas, my family and I went out to breakfast at Wild Eggs. After, the server said that our meal was graciously paid for another customer who wrote this on the back of check.

Hey Donald, get a high school teacher to explain tariffs to you. Your tariffs seize money from US citizens when you push your Trump Tariff Tax. It is working class Americans and farmers who get hurt the most.

Great read from ⁦⁩ - At what point does “serving in this White House become less a guardrail and more an enabler?” This is the essential question many of us who respected these high ranking officers in the past have had for some time.

Cadets and midshipmen operate on a very simple code: to not lie, to not cheat, and to not steal. So many of our standard politicians today do not share these values. They blindly follow a president who never shared these values.
