Riiggghht.... the fact that women and their CHILDREN were given preference in the panicked doling out of lifesaving measures in the midst of a tragic accident like the Titanic is such a compelling counterpoint to the blatantly misogynistic tenor of today’s social times!

Furthermore, at this time women didn’t have the right to: - vote - work in “professional” jobs - inherit property - receive unemployed benefit if married - divorce under equal grounds - equal pay So if you want to underscore some historical inequality

-
This was never a contest. And I very strongly disagree with how women were treated, because it was inequality. And so is saying that men's lives aren't worth being saved in disaster. You can't have it both ways. Equality should mean equality.
-
There is access to right to life and there is access to quality of life. Sealioning about how more men died in sea disasters (to which other people have responded with data showing the Titanic was an exception) disingenuously adds more weight to the “inequality” men faced.
-
I mean, if you want to examine the inequality of the Titanic disaster, your focus is best trained on class rather than gender

-
Absolutely true. But I was calling out the ignorance that was being said, not presenting a whole case. In the face of disaster, you can count on the rich always being the safest. War is fought with the poor, after all.

This has nothing to do with valuing of lives that should be saved. Men should also be saved. What about trans-women? They cannot bear children, does that mean they should be treated like the men? Even thought they're women? I disagree, and think that all lives are worth saving.
-
Nothing in my above tweet frames equal right to life as something I don’t support.
-
No, that would be two tweets above where you stated that not being able to bear children is the reason why their lives aren't worth saving by comparison. And I did not say that you don't support equality of life.

Poor example because all people deserve protection for medically unnecessary genital cutting.
