        How would 1631 have been an imminent threat? The emissions reductions goal and enforcement body attached that it would create? What BP told me is that their main disagreement was that it didn't preempt regulation

        I think you’re making a distinction without a difference. The evidence is clear: the oil companies spent disproportionately more to kill the selfsame policy they trumpeted their supposed support for in a PR move.

        Can you at least concede that where companies spend their money reflects their priorities? Under that test, the oil companies stridently oppose pricing carbon.
