@asheen how do we get that renewables and wind number up in MA?

I bet these numbers count only utility solar and not "behind the meter" solar which is treated as demand reduction. Increased share of gas because gas is indifferent to base load vs. peaking, unlike other fossils.

Also, a large share of New England energy is imported (Hydro-Québec and NYPA) which this graph does not account for. Will be interesting to see the mix after Pilgrim shuts down (currently 25% of domestic generation).

ISO New England has an app with real-time data on the domestic energy mix and flows (but not source types) of imports.

If you're interested in some more deep dives into state-by-state energy mix, see this article I posted yesterday-- most disproportionately used energy by state, fastest growing and quickest decline, etc.http://chesterenergyandpolicy.com/2018/09/18/putting-electricity-generation-on-the-map-state-by-state-energy-data-visualizations/ …

Apparently Buffalo New York has the largest renewable energy plant providing thousands of jobs. Maybe trump should look forward instead of making false promises about the re-opening of coal mines.

I believe that's the Niagara Falls hydroelectric plant. It has been operating since 1893.

As visible from those graphs, coal is dead - and can't come back. No politician can revive coal; Duke Power isn't a charity for the UMW.
