    Whiteness as a tool for violence works best when it’s invisible. You are never racialised, never expected to sit down and confront your whiteness, regularly navigating life as the assumed “default”. So when people finally acknowledge it, you think you’ve been racially abused.

    It's hard to say cause you know that some of these nominations already have an agenda behind them. But I'd still encourage people to make their submissions, keep those, and if parliament takes them up for interview, you can ask why your concerns weren't taken into consideration.

    I’ve read some of people who’ve been accused of collapsing organizations, stealing money, lying or acting inappropriately. I’ve also read some great ones too - I hope politicians don’t get the nod this time around

    The same goes for people who you think are suited for the job. Don't let fave politics fool you. A person must have a proper track record. Go through the CVs if you have time.

    I'm also worried about the ease with which institutions of higher learning summon state violence in response to student protests. Of course students will respond to that kind of instigation by burning shit down. What do they expect?

    I wonder if there's a way the public, us, can hold these institutions accountable for their negligence, as well as the violent responses towards students who try to hold them accountable.

    Dude. South Point withdrew their acc at the end of last year. Students protested and were assured it will be sorted. Year behind it’s not sorted so up to 700 students homeless. Academic program starts, students ask to postpone to next week till all is sorted but uni refuses
