What % communication loss is there between two people in a verbal conversation? Between unclear word choices, differences in the preloaded constructs in each party’s head, and differing emotions and incentives it feels like it averages to north of 20%? Curious what others think.

This is a problem more easily solved than believed. You're talking my expertise here, it's refreshing to see these questions asked. Long thread incoming. You can achieve virtually 0% loss insofar as you adjust your own interpretation of the effects of your intervention.
The source of error is in the misinterpretation of data. That people don't understand or agree with you, is your fault for not understanding or agreeing with them. Everything is meaningful. We evolve naturally, filtering isn't required.
