An easy thing to forget
Every morning, after coffee, before the (non) cigarette, ask: am I building, or tearing down? Am I giving too much time to people who tear down, and too little to builders up? Is my institution offensive or defensive? For offensive/defensive, ratio should be 2-1, if not 3-1.

This is so true. We love to give... but are in our 70’s about ready to dip into retirement lifelong savings. We planned well but I guess not well enough to support a new killer culture not to mention other unscrupulous Fed projects . We both have PhDs ..
