Would a free-market economist produced by Michigan or Wisconsin please raise a hand? Can't find many, and that's not because free-market economics doesn't make sense. Midwest universities are so tilted they are giving state schools a bad reputation. (Nope, U of C is private).

Erm, having spent time at both schools I know many excellent economist friends in both places who lean towards free markets. The first year PhD sequence in both schools is incredible preparation for a career in economics.
Dear monetary or fiscal conservatives from UMichigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, speak up! We're not hearing from you. Even Chicago tamps down market talk. Becker-Friedman could split in two so Friedman can soar alone.
