Agreed. The cold, cool verdict of what can't be unpublished. I am remembering an attack directed toward me (because the attacks that I have made on others are comfortably shrouded in forgetfulness). The sting never quite goes away.

I wrote a historical column for a local newspaper for a number of years and, though I am far from perfect, I always kept in mind the wise advice of an old WWII Vet, who said, “Once it is in print, it is hard to convince people that it’s not true.” I avoid disparaging a person.
