How did we react to the 1918 epidemic?
How would have America reacted to covid in 1920, 1960 or 1970? Why do we react differently now (if we do)? Today: No memory of what life was like b4 antibiotics, more expectation of "safety"...your thoughts?

No doubt we would have been more stoic. It also would have been killing more of us with the medical technology of the day. Still would have had a chilling effect and wrecked the economy is my guess.

Of course we weren’t as fat and sedentary either. Maybe better average health balances out

Previous generations were less averse to premature death. We've made massive strides to reduce childhood mortality, workplace fatalities, etc and lost the perspective of life as short, brutish and hard.

The internet. The ability to connect with people remotely makes us more tolerant to mandatory lock-downs

Technology changes everything. Sheltering in place would not have been possible in the past. Maybe not on this scale probably but I expect we will see more remote work in the future tied to bad flu seasons for example.
