This book is indispensable basic history for anyone who seeks to understand, at a deep level, why we are where we are when it comes to social programs, urban decay, and many other problems we struggle with.https://twitter.com/GreatSocietyAS/status/1310624898490998787 …

Yeah-
@AmityShlaes covers a huge volume of primary source info in this book, so it requires commitment to read. But boy- the payoff in knowledge is worth it!1 réponse 0 Retweet 1 j'aime -

Definitely on my re-read list. I think a second time through will give me the GOLD. Right now, I see silver linings. Which is how I know once I grasp it fully, it’ll be EPIC!

I recently re-read John Barry’s excellent book on the 1918Flu pandemic, “The Great Influenza.” I rarely re-read books, but for obvious reasons, decided to tackle this one again. Glad I did- I picked up a LOT more detail than I got the first time through.

I’m a second time through kinda gal. I read this book in particular just months after my accident. It’s apparent now, (back in Feb) I have some delay, and other things with reading that was going on. Ha! It’s a must re-read. Oh well....

Oh- and if my last tweet was not “fanboy” on your books enough- my “Keep Coolidge” t-shirt is en route to me as we speak. Hope I start a groundswell!
