I like the story in David Brinkley’s book about Washington in WW2 about a man who applied for a government job. He eventually got another job receiving applications. A week or two a later, he got a letter saying that he was being declined for the job which he signed himself.

Same concept applies to term limits and/or lobbying restrictions
