A very remarkable set of opposing ideas. Sadly, ideas of Liberty in America are turning a troubling direction. In many cases you are now viewed as guilty by default until validated by the state, by background 
or certificate. How sad.
An astute reader notes that I got one thing wrong--the line goes: In Germany, everything is forbidden unless it is permitted. In the US, everything is permitted unless it is forbidden.

Some US states act as if this were true. New York is not called The Empire State for nothing. NJ, CT, MA, MD. Could not possibly ever live anywhere too many voters liked it that way.
