Just a bunch of interest groups: People enforcing the shutdown or calling for further quarantine tend to have stable jobs (public administrators). People opposing prolonging quarantine are people who hold ephemeral private-sector jobs that could disappear forever.

Good observation. But the stable, public jobholders need to understand-their “stable” jobs are every bit as dependent on a vibrant economy as those of entrepreneurs and small business employees. Without revenues, tax bases collapse. Without a tax base, where do their jobs go?

hmm i don't know... all of my acquaintances and i have private sector jobs that are at risk of disappearing, but none of us are keen to return to our (public-facing) jobs. i think that's the more important distinction - office work vs service work.

I lost my job, my house and don’t qualify for a stimulus check and haven’t received any unemployment money and I support the shutdown. We are doing what we can for the greater good
