  1. 1st manuscript from our collaborative work with JJ Riera lab (linking frontal microcircuitry to EEG)- proposing a biophysical model of a pyramidal neuron that can be wired up with other neurons in microcircuit to do cognitive computations & generate EEG:

1/3 This paper asks an intriguing question: can you predict who might fail in their NIH grant submission? Random chance predicts increasing likelihood of success with each successive submission. But some PIs appear to have a much harder time. Why?

Excited to share our new work which applies statistical modeling to show how neurons in the frontal lobe integrate spatial information relative to self and other external objects to drive actions. These are problems robots need to solve!

New preprint: We recorded frontal cortex gaze activity and observed multiplexed eye-centered / landmark-centered visual codes during the memory delay, becoming correlated as the motor burst for gaze approached!

Years ago (Klier et al. Science 2002) we discovered a 'neural integrator' for head orientation and and proposed that it's involved in Cervical Dystonia. Now clinician-scientists are testing this with neural recordings in human patients:

Our paper in Nature Neuroscience officially came out today! It explains how brain microcircuits in the frontal lobe can detect our mistakes and evaluate the outcome of our actions to improve future performance.
