  1. He has won an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award. He has won a Guggenheim Fellowship. He has won a Pulitzer Prize. Now emeritus music prof Lewis Spratlan can say that one of his works was part of an album ("The Poetry of Places") that won a Grammy.

  8. In a post on a nonprofit's website, Parker Richardson '21 describes the effect working at the College farm has had on her. It enabled her "to learn from the earth, to see ourselves in each other, to roll and unroll the spirals that connect us all."

  9. Massachusetts State Legislature grants the charter to Amherst College in 1825. Later that same year, the College's first 25 seniors would receive degrees. This diploma ribbon is from the 1820s.

  10. In the “Reframing Sustainable Eating with Your Farmers” Interterm course, Book and Plow farmers Maida Ives and Kaylee Brow taught students how to make delicious AND satisfying plant-based meals. Some of the menu items: buffalo cauliflower, bbq seitan, green beans, cabbage salad.
