    Starting here in St. Clair County, we’re launching funding for Illinois ports as well as over three dozen transit systems outside Chicago. All in all, it's $110 million for 9 port districts as well as $112 million for 37 transit districts going out to projects around the state.

    The Trump retail space was never meant to be leased. This space was built to take advantage of lax vacancy fraud enforcement. Trump built the space to sit empty and write off “lost” rental income and obtain property tax breaks. This happens all the time.

    This is vacancy fraud. The empty retail spaces in Chicago’s Trump Tower were designed to sit empty—to create a case to reduce property taxes and then offset building income. Just check the property tax appeals.

    Here is my 2016 column about the Trump Tower retail space flop. Lots of background. Zero takers for the space fronting on the Chicago River off Michigan Avenue.
