The raid killed 9 young children, the youngest was just 3 months old. Eight women were also killed, including one who was heavily pregnant.
5 yr-old survivor, Sinan al Ameri, described the seeing his mother gunned down as she ran with her baby brother in her arms, “She was hit by the plane. The American plane, she’s in heaven now.” His mother’s body was found the morning after the raid with her head split open.
A month after the raid, the US bombed the village again, this time for four consecutive nights with drones and helicopters, killing two more children and several more adults.
Eight yr-old Nawar Al-Awlaki died by bleeding to death after being shot. Her grandfather said, “She was hit with a bullet in her neck and suffered for two hours. Why kill children? This is the new US administration - it’s very sad, a big crime.”
Al-Awlaki’s family had fled to the village of al Ghayil from Sanaa to escape the violence of the US-backed Saudi airstrikes making life miserable throughout much of Yemen.
