      federal decriminalization (or legalization) would not have any effect on this case, because it was a state case. Federal decriminalization would give the states more reason to legalize, but it wouldn't force them to. Rescheduling would do more TBH.

      The reason rescheduling would have more significance is because that's usually the rationale used by states not to legalize "It's a schedule 1 drug, which means it has no proven benefit!" This isn't true, but until that label is changed, that's their goto safety blanket.

      Thanks. I wasn’t sure what you meant by rescheduling, bu now I get it. Your point about the feds making a change might *allow* states more decrim freedom, but not require it, is well put. I only wanted lift up the above man’s release as an example of how decrim is good for us all
