I say this as a woman who is currently freezing her eggs, an expensive process that my insurance will not pay for - I would have a kid on my own tomorrow but I can’t because the social structures I’d need aren’t there and financial impact of a kid is too huge.

I didn’t bother to read this article but am unsurprised that the NYT hasn’t expanded their vocabulary to account for people who can get pregnant but don’t identify as women.

People are prioritizing education and careers because nobody can afford to pay for anything and they've been told they have to prioritize education and careers if they want to live comfortably.

You need an education and a career now if you simply want to eat. And women especially so because of the pay gap.
