Omg, I thought the same thing! It wasn't until I saw tweets talking about how they contribute to transphobia that I finally googled them and found out the disappointing truth🤦‍♀️

I don't think they are bad. I would maybe do one for fun but if my child decided that that was not their gender then I would have another gender party for them to come out as their true self. I think this should be a thing lol

I am listening. I can completely see why some do not like them . I personally do not think it’s horrible I think it’s just a way of celebrating a new baby for new excited parents. I am still entitled to my own opinions. I don’t force anyone to listen.

You had a reply from another trans person in this same thread, who had done a gender reveal party for their child. "Trans people" are not identical, with the same opinions, and no group should try to force all its members to agree on every point or tell ppl that they all agree.

But the majority of us understand and agree that gender reveal parties for individuals who have no way to speak for themselves is inherently cissexist. Those of us that do not feel this way should not be prioritized when the majority knows it is not ok. Baby showers already exist

Also even that person said they understand this. I just don't get why a baby shower needs to more cissexism. It's not even a gender reveal party, it's a genital reveal party. For a baby. If they end up cis there's no harm done but for the rest of us it's a cage.

I understand what you are saying. I wouldn’t personally raise my children with gender norms. It’s just an exciting thing for new parents are you having a boy or a girl. Obviously I know that’s not the only options & if my child expressed that was not who they are then

We are not going to agree on everything . I understand why some people do not like this. I also understand why it can be innocent fun. I’m a huge supporter of trans and non binary people and at the end of the day wouldn’t care at all if my child didn’t fit a gender stereotype

I didn't have gender reveal parties for either of my kids, but I have friends who have done it. I also felt it was wrong to pierce my kids' ears when they were babies, so didn't do that either. Also no infant circumcision, here. But I'm not disowning any loved ones if they do.

Infant circumcision is child rape and genital mutilation and needs to be BANNED.
