to be clear, I believe we should have federally mandated paid family leave. this was a sort-of joke that was sad-funny because it is true.
Our policies carry over into cultural practices tho - eg the fetishization of weddings/marriage, honeymoon funds. It’s effed up.

We're incentivized not to have children, though perhaps *slightly* less so now that insurers have to cover maternity + $2K child tax credit.
